Coupons

I've said, we like saving money.  My husband & I have a saying we like to tell the cashiers when they say "You saved $38.00 on your purchase today."  Then, we might say, "Yes ma'am, we would have saved $138.00 today, if we hadn't come in here."  It's just a joke, most of the time they smile, & say "that's true".  When I have coupons to use, I forget to pull them out of my purse.  I was at the grocery store & bought some cereal for Chex mix, the cashier gave me two coupons to use on my next visit.  Hello, I won't need them or remember them on my next visit, but they wouldn't let me use them on this visit.  Back in the day, when I was younger & had more free time and energy, I might have taken the cereal to the service desk & asked to get a refund, then gone back to the cereal isle & bought two more boxes, & saved $3.00.  Sound cheap? I think it sounds like using the coupons they gave me.

I doubled the recipe, the holidays are here and the Chex mix will  be gone soon.

Here is the recipe I used.

9 cups cereal

1 cup pretzels

1 cup mixed nuts

2 tablespoons Worcester sauce

6 tablespoons butter (melted)

1 1/2 teaspoons season salt

3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 small shake Cajun seasoning (more or less)

In large bowl, place cereal, nuts, and pretzels, in small bowl, melt butter, add rest of ingredients, stir, pour this over cereal mixture, stirring to coat everything, place on large baking pan or two regular ones. Bake 250 degree for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Store in air tight container, until ready to use.
