Drawer and Cabinet Handles

This is a post about my Silverware/Flatware Cabinet Handles.  My husband and I drilled holes and bent the silverware for the handles.  Some have brass bolts and some are regular silver ones.  The silverware was bought for about 10 to 25 cents each.

I got a little fancy with this fork.

Drawer handle/soup spoon.

Tea spoons for door handles on the below cabinets.

This Pie server is my favorite. I love the aged look, but I will polish up this beauty one day.

I pull some of the doors open using the "handle" and some I grab by the top of the spoon.

If you look close, you can see that only "one" spoon is downward. I did this on purpose and love it.  By the way, this is three above cabinets only 12 inches deep stacked on top each other, and it fit perfect in the little cubby.  Our home was built in the 30's, we do have a lot of changelings.
You can see my pot holder/holder made with three pieces of silverware next to the stove.

Here's a butter knife drawer pull.

Upcycling Pink Polka Dot Mouse Pad

I got an old mouse pad, and wanted to change the look of it, so here we go.
Here I have measured the fabric about 3/4 inch larger than the pad.
This is the Heat n Bond product I use on the back of the fabric. It comes with good directions, if you follow the instructions on the package it works great.  It's fast and easy.

You can see the pencil mark where I  drew a line around the pad for applying the Heat n Bond.  It's just a guide line.
Just wanted to show my cute pink daisy pencil I used .
Ironing the bond on the back side of the fabric.
After the bond has cooled I start peeling the paper backing to expose the bond that will be ironed onto the pad.
I have ironed the fabric on the pad and used scissors to trim it flush.
Here, I show my new lap top sleeve that my husband gave me with my new lap top this year, the sleeve came with a piece of foam, to keep its shape, I use it for a little more protection, but I didn't like the white foam showing, so I hade to cover it.  I just made a "pillow case" style envelope, {fitted} and hand stitched the opening closed
I have my S. C. tote bag for my lap top carrier, the large rectangle in the upper right of picture is the "foam", the circle is my pad,  and I have the cute daisy pink pencil holding my sleeve open so the polka dots can be seen.
Here we can see it all, along with the mouse and zippered bag I made for holding my cords.
Finally here is the cute wireless mouse my husband gave me with the lap top, he's so thoughtful.
The mouse "sleeping bag" is one I made.  I actually thought of making a pink polka dot one, but for now I think I will keep this one, maybe if I find some black fabric with pink polka dots, I'll make a new one, but for now, this one will do.
The mouse is all tucked in and the cover is snapped closed.
 Getting all matched up.

Junk Drawer Clean Up

1st drawer  - (before) the cleanup

1st drawer  - (after) the cleanup

(before) 2nd drawer

(after) drawer #2

Here's drawer #3  (before) and (after) won't be much I can do here, it's my husbands drawer never the less, I'm gona give it a go....the "go" went down, I didn't even try.

Brave enough to tackle drawer #4 ? (before)

drawer #4 (after)

Look at the beauty I found, this eraser hasn't been used since my
kids were in school that had to be at least 1998 or there bouts.
Wow 15 years. By the way, I kept it.

Lets see how much of this I can get back in the drawer or moved somewhere else...this mostly came out of 2 drawers.

Here's a neat recipe booklet I found in the bottom of the pile
Strom Thurmond served for 48 years as a United States Senator. Thurmond represented
South Carolina, where I was born and raised in South Carolina
This recipe booklet was given to me by my mother in law.

Inside of booklet

Things that got thrown away includes, spice jar shaker top, four candles; will be given to a friend who makes candles, a phone charger, ball, bad battery, small amount of floral tape, oh another battery, cable clip(I kept the clip), kite string, chain of some sort, stamps, greenbax stamp, piece of plastic something, key chains, broken clothes pin; I was going to use as a "wooden iron" for quilting, two cigars, a menu for the meat market, and maybe one or two more things.

Here's the 9 ft. section of cabinets that I straightened up the drawers. I try hard to keep this counter top clean, it's not always easy. Notice my drawer pulls.  I'll blog about those another time.
